School Tours
Admission is $4 per student
Adult Chaperones are free
Come join us for a journey back in time to the early 1880s as interpreters dressed in period attire guide students through a day in the life at Fort Uncompahgre during the height of the Western American Fur Trade. Students will learn about how the fur trade and other trade along the Old Spanish Trail shaped the settlement, politics, economy, and cultural diversity of the Uncompahgre Valley and western Colorado as a whole.

Tours are usually around 1.5 hours each

Students will be broken up into groups of 15 - 20,

There must be at least 2 adult chaperones provided by the school or organization. 1 interpreter will be assigned to each group.
Field Trips
Admission is $10 per student - includes materials

Field Trips to Fort Uncompahgre provide an opportunity for students to make hands on, experiential, connections How we learn about and model life at the Fort (its ecology and culture) through projects, experiments, and reenactments.

Students are placed in groups of 8-10.

At least one adult chaperone is required for each group of 8-10.

Activities will be conducted in stations and students will rotate every 30-40 minutes.

There will be one instructor assigned to each station.

All activities are designed around the 5 E's inquiry based instructional model and align with Colorado Academic Standards.
